Invitation to press conference and exhibition preview
Invitation to vernissage and euward9 award ceremony 


Munich. – On Thursday, May 16, 2024, for the 9th time, Augustinum Foundation will award the euward, the most important European art prize for painting and graphic art in the context of mental disability in collaboration with Haus der Kunst. On the same day, the exhibition „Samaneh Atef, Belén Sánchez, Desmond Tjonakoy. euward9“ will open at Haus der Kunst. It ends on July 14, 2024, with a finissage and – as part of the regular annual programme in the international exhibition venue – presents the works of the award winners and the other artists nominated for the euward9. You are warmly invited to the press conference, during which the exhibition can be viewed in advance, as well as to the vernissage and award ceremony in the evening.

The euward art prize 

Since the year 2000, Augustinum Foundation Munich has been awarding the euward, which was honored with Deutscher Kulturförderpreis in 2022/2023. Up to 800 artists from more than 25 European nations apply for each competition. More than 240 applications from 25 countries were submitted for euward9. In addition to the exhibition of their works, the winners receive cash prizes and a catalogue with a total value of around 25,000 euros.
