Invitation to the media: Announcement of the euward8-winners

Press conference: Saturday, 26 September, 3.00 pm in Munich

For the 8th time the Augustinum Stiftung (Munich) will present euward, the European Award for Painting and Graphic Arts in the Context of Mental Disability. On Saturday, 26 September, the jury will choose the three prizewinners of the euward8. Hereby we invite the media to the following press conference:

euward8 was open for entries from throughout Europe until end of July. 341 artists from 22 countries applied; the committee nominated 16 artists from nine countries. On 26 September, the jury will determine the three winners of euward8. The award winners will be honoured at the Haus der Kunst in Munich in April 2021. At the same time, the euward-exhibition will be opened. It presents the winning artworks and works of all nominated artists.


The euward jury is international in character with recognised experts from all over Europe:

    Director, Museum für schweizerische Naive Kunst und Art Brut, St. Gallen, Switzerland


Patron of euward8 is the actor Edgar Selge. Klaus Mecherlein is the curator of euward and head of Augustinum Atelier, Munich. Please find more information about the euward on www.euward.de.


The Augustinum Foundation has awarded the euward since 2000. This distinction is the most important award internationally for art in the context of mental disability. In 2021 it will be awarded for the 8th time. The winners receive an exhibition of their works in Haus der Kunst, Munich. They are also supported with cash prizes and a catalogue of their works, totalling about 19,000 Euros in value. The prize will be awarded at an exhibition opening ceremony in April 2021 at Haus der Kunst in Munich. From mid-September until the beginning of the euward-exhibition, Haus der Kunst showcases the euward archive, giving visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of euward.
