Heliodor Doblinger
Heliodor Doblinger was born on January 22, 1972, in Salzburg and lives and works in the Hartheim Institute in Alkoven, Austria. Since 1992, Doblinger has taken the opportunity to attend Neuhauserstadel, the Hartheim Institute's studio, twice a week to paint. The dominant motif of his pictures is the human figure in various situations, which he draws painstakingly with great accuracy, usually on small-format paper.

Untitled, 2000, oil pastels on paper
Heliodor Doblinger lives a very withdrawn life and is an extremely sensitive person with a fertile imagination. He rocks continuously as he draws, producing a gestured stroke, the figures are integrated into the vibrating, jostling rhythm of the forms and colours. His colourful pictures are usually expressed in wax crayon and coloured pencil, occasionally in felt-tip pen.
Heliodor is a storyteller who can put his emotional world on paper in a very gentle and sophisticated way. His overemphasis of the expressive, often resulting in deformities (enlarged hands, long necks, and the like), produces some extremely bizarre picture worlds. |
